Fawn – a SPECIAL NEEDS, seizure-controlled, female, retired field trial racer. A greyhound lurcher. She just love attention and hugs lots of hugs. She thinks she is a lap dog. Shown here with her field trial person, a remarkable young teenager named Reba that we met at Fort Recovery races. (This photo is even featured on our new video.) Fawn was born April 12, 2021. She is 3. Fawn is described as “loveable, easy to handle, and mellow”. She gets along with all kinds of dogs, even small ones. Fawn even enjoys young children. Fawn is retiring (as a special needs hound) because she has had several seizures. Reba reached out specifically to us because she likes our mission, what we do, and how we do it. She told us, “I am calling you because you really take the time to get to know these dogs. And you try to find the BEST home, the best match, for each one. Reba made the unselfish decision to surrender her dog, the one that she personally raised as a very young puppy. Fawn needs a new life that her field trial family is not in position to give her. And Fawn needs to transition to the life of a house pet, a companion dog. Prison Greyhounds is working with American Lurcher Project to make this happen. Fawn received a full exam, with complete bloodwork and testing for tick diseases, and she started on seizure medications August 9. Most seizure-controlled hounds continue on medication the rest of their life, with annual exam/bloodwork to monitor the dosage. She is fully vaccinated and will be spayed on Sept 3. Her field trial person (Reba) has many puppy photos and memories of Fawn in her younger days to share with her adopter. In exchange, she would just like to have an occasional update from the future adopter on how Fawn is doing. Maybe twice a year, perhaps a Christmas update and summer report. Fawn is littermate to the very popular Banshee!
