Foxi (Phil’s Fire Fox) – female, brindle, tattoos 48D-72164. Born 4/27/18. All 30 races at Palm Beach, with 3 wins. We are perplexed about this litter that Foxi came from. She is coming up via Greyhounds in Motion just to make transport as easy as possible for her. It appears that some of the littermates had a genetic issue causing two to die around age 2, and a 3rd to have an incident that has his veterinarian left without a good explanation. We have consulted with Dr Couto to see if we are dealing with a bleeding or a clot issue. So far, he is instructing us not to start any preventive measures since we are not sure what we are dealing with. We don’t want to create a problem.  The sire was a known bleeder. One littermate (Fire Ant) died in the arms of her new adopter in what appeared to be a stroke. The adopter dosed her with the aspirin (as we instruct for any greyhound stroke) but she was dead within 15 minutes. Another littermate died within days of his neuter. Yet there are 2 other littermates up in Michigan that were neutered over 6 months ago and doing very well, no sign of any genetic health issue!?! They are happily, healthily adopted! Foxi still needs to see Dr Carter for her spay/dental/microchip. We have tagged Foxi as “special needs” because we realize that she may or may not live out the full life expectancy of a young greyhound. But she still needs and deserves a house and adopter to call her own. She is cat tolerable.
