Jewel (O Ya Jewel) – female, black, tattoos 99A-74027. Born 9/11/2019, so not yet even 2 years old! Never raced, due to Florida vote. Needs to see orthopedic surgeon at VCA Advanced after she arrives. We are asking for an evaluation if surgery can help her injured ankle or tendon or whatever it is that is not quite “right”. We are told by Kennel Manager at Sunburst, “Just wanted to let you know Jewel gets around pretty well. She digs, bounces around and plays, it is her ankle not hock. I know she needs a veterinary eye but I believe she has stretched/ damaged tendons in that ankle. When I’ve bent it back (just sort of trying to figure things out) she shows no sign of  pain. I believe her gait is hampered a lot by the tendon length she now deals with. But she does NOT lay in her crate licking her foot, and it is not swollen.”  So Jewel will not be available for adoption until we know more about her medical needs. She arrived on July 10 with the other greyhounds from Sunburst. She will be fostered by Carol and Jan Hulett all the way thru her surgery and rehabilitation. (Assuming she needs surgery.) THIS is the girl we raised the funds for during our Facebook Auction. Jewel has already been spayed and had her dental. She only needs to see Dr Carter for her microchip. We have waited a long time for this Jewel to come up! Thank you for making it possible.
