Smokey (XT’s SmokeWagon) – 100% NGA greyhound (retired racer) He is male, shiny black, luxurious coat. A happy, healthy boy! Smokey was born August 23, 2019. So his age is 5. He weighs 71 pounds. He is NOT cat safe, not small dog safe, but good with other hounds his size. Smokey retired a little later than other Wheeling racers at 5, but he’s got a lot of playfulness. He started off racing at Southland, until that track closed. As one of their more promising racers, he transferred to Wheeling. He can now boast of 148 races with 14 wins. When the workers at Wheeling Adoption Kennel would put him in his crate, Smokey always insisted (!) that they give him some neck or butt scratches before he goes in. And then he settled right in. He’s a little lazier than some of the other dogs at the kennel. But he does love to throw the stuffies around! Smokey is also the King of Roaching in his crate! (That is greyhound lingo for a dog lying on their back with all 4 legs extended in the air!) You could say that Smokey loves to play just as much as he loves to nap. And he LOVES to be petted. He would stand there all day for you to rub his ears or his neck! We picked him up from the race track in Wheeling, West Virginia. He travels smoothly in a car – he just settled right down. Because he is a true nga, we expect he might adopt pretty fast! We require his adopter to have previous experience with a full-blooded NGA. His adoption fee is $800 which covers his full vetting, microchip and our transport fee to bring him to Indiana. To our past adopters, this may sound high, but honestly, that is what we have invested in the dog! He currently fosters in Indiana.
