All Hounds

JACK (JD, On the Fly)

JACK (racing name was On the Fly) He was born 4/23/2017. is a stunningly handsome 7-year-old field trial racing greyhound.

A greyhound lurcher. Jack can be perfectly happy as the only dog in the house, or he can be compatible with hounds that match his size and exuberance. 80 pounds, with tall legs. Even though he is energetic at times, Jack thrives on routine and a calm, dog savvy adopter.  Jack LOVES to play fetch. It uses up a lot of his energy. Jack had been in our foster care for a long time because he needed over 6 months of treatment to be healed from a nose fungus called Blastomycosis. HE is TOTALLY HEALED This guy is Mr. Personality! He loves big-dog toys that he can carry and toss about. Once Jack gets to know you – he loves to go with you; whether on walks, hikes, or for a ride. He rides very well in the car. No cats! He is the sweetest boy and loves attention from people. Jack’s adoption fee is $200.

Hero “Tesla”

Hero “Tesla” – Do not let her gray face fool ya! This greyhound lurcher is a spit fire of red dog! Tesla has  lots of spunk. She could do well in a multi-dog family, even small dogs or puppies.

But she is also okay with playing just by herself and her toys. Tesla would thrive with children who want to play, she’s very active. She loves to run. Tesla weighs 55 pounds.
Her birthday is 6-28-2014, so she is 10. She likes the pettings from the staff, but honestly, she prefers to get into mischief over standing still or cuddling up to be loved on! She really loves to get out and just run. Telsa does not know how old she is, a true puppy at heart. Warning: Tesla is a cookie monster! (The Hero Hound adoption fee is $200. Fenced yard required. Hero Hounds are not cat tested, they have never been around cats. But our experience shows they are ALL cat tolerable with no prey drive.
She is fully vetted and the adoption fee covers microchipping.)

Coleen

Coleen – Coleen was born 12/18/2021. A sweet friendly girl. She quickly became a FAVORITE among the staff and children at the Retirement Kennel! Now, Coleen’s house manners are very good in her foster home. She doesn’t get into anything inappropriate, even when she’s bored – she just goes to her toy box, and if you join in to play, all the better! Coleen graduated from her crate altogether and is trustworthy! She has learned the difference between toys and laundry. In the house, she is low energy, yet outgoing and interested in what’s going on. At the same time, she naps readily if nothing’s happening. Outside – Coleen loves watching and stalking squirrels in the yard. She wants to start and finish every walk with a yard scan for squirrels. She does zoomies in the yard. She prefers walking down alleys more than busy streets.  She is still a little shy on walks, but only when meeting new people. Coleen remembers people she’s met previously. Overall she’s adjusted great to the household routine, very comfortable and happy, tail wagging. She might not be a good fit for a noisy household because of her initial shyness, but a quiet home, with lots of routine, would allow her to relax and open up. She loves when friends come over, and remembers people she’s met previously. She is very happy to see them again. … Overall she is just an easy, sweet girl with a ton a happiness and personality! We think she could benefit from having another confident dog around her. (Coleen is a 3-year-old field trial greyhound, 64 pounds. No cats – but loves kids and adults. Fully vetted: Spay, dental, vaccines, microchipped. Her adoption fee is $300.)

Noodle

Noodle – Male, red fawn greyhound lurcher. This handsome hound is being rehomed, due to divorce. His previous adopter describes him this way, “Noodle has been a fantastic dog. Never had accidents at home. Does well in his crate. Is great with our 4-year-old child and with both of our small dogs at home. Noodle is very affectionate. He loves being petted and will see out attention. He can be really playful, but he saves that for when he is outside. Indoors he mostly lounges, or seeks out pets from the humans in the home! He does well on a leash. Noodle doesn’t typically bark a lot, except when you get home for the day, and he’s really excited to see you!” Noodle was born April 14, 2019 so he is 5. He is the son of our previously adopted Woodchuck (Chainsmoker). He is fully vetted, microchipped. About 60 pounds. He retired in 2024 from field trial racing due to injury of right front leg, which is all healed now. His adoption fee is $300.
